Hello Figure 8 Fans & Drivers,
The 2008 Keokuk County Fair figure 8 races are in the books now and it was a exciting night of racing action. There was a great field of cars in all 3 classes. The father and son team of Rick & Mike Goldsberry from Runnells, Iowa came to What Cheer the first time this season to battle it out in the Open class. Mike had just recently acquired the Open Class car #6 of Brian Morrison from Minburn, IA. It was raced at the Dallas County Fairgrounds in the years past. It will make Mike a great car to race with. Joe Icenbice debut his new #49 Doing it for Dave #2 Open car last night at the fair. It had been a long winter and spring project but it’s a great looking car for the 2008 racing season and it’s great to have Joe racing it on the Krazy 8 Racing Series. Joe had a little mechanical problems last night in the heat and wasn’t able to make it to the features. But he will have the bugs worked out and will return to the track in the weeks to come and will be a great car to challenge. The #77 Mark Schuring of Pella, IA was back on the track this weekend after taken a violent roll on the 4th of July in What Cheer. He put a new roll on his car and fixed the roll cage and was back for action this weekend. There was a lot of fast action in all 3 classes last night. The Keokuk County track crew had the track in great shape for a night of racing, The Open class seemed to be fast that the previous races that have been there this year. There was wild intersection action with a few pile up which caused damage to some car. Some were able to get there car fixed and come back. Then there were some that just had to go to the trailer from heavy body damage. #19 Donnie Pearson received some hard front end damage to the passenger side front wheel area of his Open class car last night in the heats when there was a bout a 4 car pile up in the X. In the Stock class the #8JR of Dennis Gregson received heavily front end damage in the A-feature as his front end nose up considerable. The Keokuk County Fair race part of the Krazy 8 Racing Series was a double points night in the series just as well as next weekend in Sigourney on Saturday night July 19 at the Keokuk County Expo will be also. It caused a lot of cars to move up in the points and some to move down in the points last night as you will see in the current Krazy 8 Racing Series Points Standings. I want to Thank all the drivers for coming to What Cheer last night for the fair race and hope to see you and more cars in Sigourney next weekend.
